For Five Continuous Generations, the Newman name has been associated with Processing and Packaging Machinery for the Food, Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic and Chemical Industries as well as the Winternitz name in the industrial asset disposition industry.

1880 |
Harry Newman left ARMOUR SOAP WORKS and went into the new and used machinery business under the name NEWMAN TALLOW & SOAP MACHINERY. |
1893 |
Samuel L. Winternitz exhibits and then subsequently auctions assets of the World's Columbian Exhibition under the original name of the auction firm RAILROAD WRECKING & SALVAGE. |
1921 |
Irwin and Joe Newman went to work for their father, Harry, at NEWMAN TALLOW & SOAP MACHINERY. Irwin and Joe were two of eight children. |
1924 |
LOEB EQUIPMENT & SUPPLY COMPANY was started by Joe Loeb. |
1927 |
Lester Winternitz joins the auction business now called SAMUEL L WINTERNITZ & CO. |
1946 |
Bob Newman (Irwin's son) came to work at NEWMAN TALLOW & SOAP MACHINERY. |
1949 |
Bob Newman left NEWMAN TALLOW & SOAP MACHINERY and began working for Joe Loeb at LOEB EQUIPMENT & SUPPLY COMPANY. Samuel L. Winternitz conducts 2 auctions of the famous Tucker Automobile Company. |
1951 |
Stephen L. Winternitz (Lester's son) joins the family auction business. |
1953 |
Bob Newman bought out Joe Loeb and Joe's partner, Roland Ziske. |
1956 |
Irwin Newman left NEWMAN TALLOW & SOAP MACHINERY to work at LOEB EQUIPMENT & SUPPLY COMPANY. |
1970 |
Jim Newman (Bob's son) came to work at LOEB EQUIPMENT & SUPPLY COMPANY. NEWMAN INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY SERVICE was formed to conduct market value appraisals. |
1974 |
Stephen Winternitz leaves the family business and forms his own auction company, STEPHEN L. WINTERNITZ, INC. Subsequently, SAMUEL L. WINTERNITZ & CO. is merged into firm. |
1975 |
Jim Newman bought out Bob Newman. |
1988 |
Charles J. Winternitz (Stephen's son) joins STEPHEN L. WINTERNITZ, INC. as a 4th generation auctioneer. |
1995 |
LOEB EQUIPMENT & SUPPLY COMPANY absorbed the appraisal work of NEWMAN INDUSTRIAL MACHINERY SERVICE and changed its name to LOEB EQUIPMENT & APPRAISAL COMPANY The Winternitz family renames the company WINTERNITZ, INC. positioning and rebranding the company for the upcoming turn of the century. |
1996 |
Howard Newman (Jim's son) began working for LOEB EQUIPMENT & APPRAISAL COMPANY. Charles J. Winternitz is appointed Executive Vice President of WINTERNITZ, INC. |
2001 |
Loeb grows organically to provide Asset Based Loans (ABL division is formed). |
2007 |
Howard Newman is named President of LOEB. |
2009 |
Charles Winternitz joins the organization as President of LOEB WINTERNITZ INDUSTRIAL AUCTIONEERS, establishing the new auction subsidiary and bringing together over 250 years of combined industrial experience. |
